ThePrimeagen I

I noticed that I keep telling my close friends about the streamer and software developer ThePrimeagen (Twitch, YouTube, GitHub). If you are working on software and watch videos, you probably know him. As of June 30, 2025, he’s already super popular. I love and learn a lot from his streams and videos that are being cut from Twitch streams. The Standup (name mocking the daily standups in software teams) with Casey Muratori, Teej, dax and trash is ridiculously precious and entertaining for me.

I don’t/can’t watch all his content since he produces too much. But I’m currently hearing him talk every day or every other day. I started my journey with his earlier videos on neovim, the keyboard in Men in Black, general software-development topics, his memoirs, and his reaction videos (pardon my wording, but i can explain) on software-related articles. I watched or listened to many of the videos multiple times. I even got one reply from him on the YouTube comments which made my day 13 days ago. If I had a chance to pick a video where Prime would reply my comment, I would have picked this video.

I heard people mentioning how he made an impact on a lot of software developers. But experiencing something personally is way different than reading it. I first met with his videos after I resigned from my job a few months ago. I was thinking of reconsidering my career after 10+ years (hello linkedin). He changed my life.

I wanted to share my feelings in my private/public blog and potentially introduce him to 1 more person. I can also just share a link to this blog post when I want to mention his work to other people.

microsoft teams I

i heard many bad stuff from people online and the colleagues at work about microsoft teams. i never used it before. i used the old and the new skype for some time, never really enjoyed using it. when the company i was working was merging with another company, selecting google vs. microsoft was a topic. people in the company that i work were afraid of switching to microsoft, consequently to microsoft teams. but the google people won, after their cost analysis probably.

i installed teams for the first time today. i was able to log in to my microsoft account. the app sign-in worked fine. i just needed to enter a code i received via email.

then it asked me to ‘get started’, otherwise i didn’t see anything on the ui. i didn’t want to sync any contacts but i guess i had to do it. we got started. it showed some loading animations and told me ‘you are ready’. there were buttons on the left, i wasn’t interested in them. but i didn’t see how i can create a meeting in the first look. i also couldn’t see any contacts but 1 name is shown on the chat page. maybe i had only one contact, a close friend of mine.

then i closed it since i don’t need to do anything now. after a while, i saw an icon on the toolbar asking for attention.

it asked me to look for the updates. i looked for them. then it downloaded and installed a 399 mb package. i didn’t understand what it updated. when i check the apps, i saw two of them. teams and autoupdate. they are both up-to-date now. i clicked a button and now i automatically keep microsoft apps up to date. that was my first experience with microsoft teams.
